Ragnheiður Erla Björnsdóttir is a composer and artistic researcher. Her practice centres transdisciplinary research on voice through embodiment and extended vocal techniques, ecomusicology, and sound-based experimental writing.
Ragnheiður works through sounding(s), slowness, and care. Her practice is shaped by bottom-up approaches that grow through community, dialogue, and relationality. Voice, for her, is about centering the unvoiced and giving space to what often goes unheard or unnoticed.
She explores the inaudible, the hidden, and the barely-there, often working with layered networks of vibration, resonance, and relational sound. Her methods include extended vocal techniques, field recording, and collaborative processes that unfold over time, allowing meaning and form to emerge gradually.
