Globen

Late night winds blowing through the "Live" flags along the gangway to the Globen, a large concert venue, whose name was officially changed to "Avicii Arena" after the well-known pop-singer's tragic death by suicide. Globen City was built in the 1980s.There is a hockey arena across the street, a stadium behind, and one of Stockholms more depressing shopping malls next door. On days when a large scale game or concert is happening, the atra fills with people. But living next door to the complex for two years, I found it windswept and empty most of the time, and these flags and their strangely delicate sound greeted me often on late night walks home. The giant, white globe is visible from all over Stockholm. From my window, I could see an artificial mountain, used for skiing in winter, which was built out of the debris from the massice construction of Globen City.
