Repository of Music and Sound Works:

Radio Programs

I have made two radio programs over the course of this project that are a part of the project output. I was invited to do both by sound and radio artist Kate Donovan. Both programs address psychogeography and psycho-sonic cartography.

The first of these was part of the Cola bora dio radio organization, for Donovan's program Elements, in Berlin.x I went to Berlin to go live. Since I had been focusing so hard on Stockholm as the subject of all my thinking about psychogeography, so I made a program stretching out over several cities, with some live violin included. This was a rough first time doing something of this kind live, and it has glitches since the recording comes from a live broadcast. I have cleaned up some of the silences where the transmitter cut out here. The program was carried out in a tiny room behind a bar, with people from all sorts of music and sound pursuits piling into the tiny room in twos and threes. It was in an artspace in Karl Marx square. Later the same year, I did a live performance of this radio show again, at Larry’s Corner in Stockholm.

The second of these was Nightingale Show, which was made for Datscha Radio’s Night Gardening broadcast and event.x The broadcast took place from a community garden, also in Berlin, over an entire night. Participants from places around the world were asked to contribute short programs on the subject of the nightingale. As I was working on my program, I was stopped one night by the spell-binding song of just that bird, starting the dawn chorus far earlier than any of his compatriots in the scrap of woods around my abode at the time, in Johanneshov.
