All of the Ghost Installations in this project are placed in the sites they are made for with several small speakers. They surround the given site as invisibly and unobtrusively as possible, to give the effect that the site, itself, is sending forth the sound. These works are meant to behave like ghosts, or like the ghosts of memory and imagination people superimpose on the places they dwell in and traverse, moving around the people who enter the space in gentle, disappearing gestures. For this reason, the volume is never very high; the sound of the installation must meld with the sound of the actual site, so that they may cross one another for those who listen, indicating both the present and the imagined pasts, futures or never-weres the installation sends out, and meld yet again with the memories and imaginations of the people who encounter them. Here is a list of all the Ghost Installations in the project, with links to their respective pages:
