Jonas Howden Sjøvaag

Fellow´s representative

Jonas is a musician and composer, currently working as a research fellow at University of Agder, Faculty of Fine Arts. His professional career began in 2008 after finishing master studies at the Academy of Music (NMH) in Oslo. Since 2013 he has been working with IT, and started working as a Research Catalogue consultant in 2017. He is involved in teaching faculty and staff members at institutions both in Norway and Europe, and also works for the Society for Artistic Research, and various connected journals within the field. Member of the board since 2022 (deputy: Research Fellow Sidsel Christensen, University of Bergen, Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design, The Art Academy - Department of Contemporary Art).

How to influence?

1. Influence through your institution's representative. The board meets at least four times a year, and the course plan and reading list are discussed and updated yearly.

2. Influence through your feedback after seminars and forums. The participants will receive a questionnaire after each event. The feedback is used to improve the quality of the training and to adjust the format of the seminars and forums.

3. Research fellows can also influence through dialogue with the fellow´s representative and by attending the yearly fellow´s meeting (takes normally place in Zoom - all fellows will receive an invitation).

In addition, every three years an expanded evaluation that also includes supervisors and relevant representatives of the participating institutions will take place (2022). Every six years a more extensive evaluation that includes external peers takes place (2025). Institutions with research fellows participating in the research school’s program will be given access to the results of the evaluations.
