A joint nordig Summer Academy for Artistic Research

SAAR brings together about 18 artistic researchers and 9 supervisors from Sweden, Finland, and Norway. The aim is to reflect the international diversity of artistic research and to provide a stimulating environment for co-creation, conversation, and supervision.

SAAR is based on the participants' projects, and the activities are centered around their projects, as well as questions/thoughts generated by each year´s specific context.

The Summer Academy for Artistic Research (SAAR) has served as a Nordic network since 2014, with partner universities from Sweden, Norway, and Finland collaborating and rotating the responsibility of hosting the academy each year.

SAAR 2026 will be held in Voss, Norway. Previous events in Norway have taken place in Tromsø, at Utøya, and in Rauland.

All research fellows participating in the Norwegian Artistic Research School are welcome to apply for participation in SAAR. A call for applications is issued each spring.
