In this seminar, you will share your research project and gain insight into the ongoing artistic research of fellow PhD students. Together, we will discuss artistic research as a field, both nationally and globally. You will meet a current PhD student and a recently graduated PhD student, and receive a brief introduction to ethics in artistic research.

What to prepare?
- Read: On Artistic Research. Here you will find a brief history of artistic research, as well as notions and insights into the role of research on, for, and in the arts. The page includes mandatory and optional reading and media material on the history and development of the field of artistic research.
- Hand in:
a) A short bio in English (max 200 words): Name; institution/department; short about your background
b) A short project abstract in English (max 300 words): Project title; 3-5 key words (e.g. music, visual arts, film…); research interest/research question; an illustration (e.g. sound, image, animation, video…)
Format: Plain text in an e-mail and images in jpeg or similar formats; videos, sounds, and links may also be included. Send the material to: pku@hkdir.no. The bio/abstract will be published on this site: Norwegian Artistic Research PhD students. You can update your bio/abstract as often as you would like by sending us a new version. - Bring: In the seminar, you will be asked to share your artistic research project in max. 5 minutes. No technical equipment is offered (by us) – bring an object, a print, a sound, a movement. Don´t try to tell or show us everything; make us curious, give us a glimpse, or let us understand why the project matters to you.
