Tijs Ham ('81) is a Dutch sound artist and researcher living in Norway. He has completed a PhD in Artistic Research for the University of Bergen / KMD / Department of Music. The main question driving his Ph.D. project, 'Tipping Points,' emerges from a deep fascination with the sounds, timbres, and sonic behaviors that appear when chaotic processes transition towards instability. ‘How can the exploration of tipping points in chaotic processes inform the development of new electronic music instruments, compositional strategies, and performances to enhance sonic expression?’

Ham is the co-founder of Bulldozer, Bergen Fremtidsmusikk, and the Artificial Center of the Imagination. He is also in the leader group of nyMusikk Bergen and a board member of Playdate.

As Tapage, he records and performs music (inter-)nationally and collaborates with record labels such as Ant-Zen, CASE Records, Moving Furniture Records, Lomechanik, Tympanik Audio, Adnoiseam, Meta4 Recordings, and Bionic Records, among others.

Ham is a band member of The Void* who has recorded music for Esc.Rec, Lomechanik, and Shipwrec.
