Michael Francis Duch (Trondheim, 1978)

Professor of Double bass, jazz and experimental music

Deputy Head of Research at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

 

Michael Francis Duch is a member of the steering committe of VIS - Nordic Journal for Artistic Research, and alumni member of the The Young Academy of Norway. He completed his project “Free Improvisation – Method and Genre” as a research-fellow at the University of Trondheim (NTNU) in 2010, doing research on Free Improvisation and the use of Improvisation in Experimental Music. 


He has been involved in about 80 recordings released in various formats, plays regularly with the improv quartet LEMUR and other collaborations include Pauline Oliveros, Mats Gustafsson, George Lewis, AMM, Christian Wolff, Tony Conrad, Joëlle Léandre, amongst others.
