Met mijn onderzoek ben ik door middel van het maken van een fotoserie van raamkozijnen, de objecten gaan analyseren die mensen graag aan de buitenwereld laten zien, per ongelijk of expres.

I learned that the Dutch are known for having windows that are left open. The fact that the Dutch don't find it strange, suggests that it is likely interwoven in Dutch culture. It has to do with residents' desire to observe daily life and their "I've got nothing to hide" mentality.

Additionally, it has to do with how the architecture has changed over time, windows got bigger and houses become more transparant.

Dutch Window: Female Virtue and Female Vice, by Irene Cieraad, was an article I came across. According to her, decorating a home is controlled by a collection of felt emotions that exists in the owners' imagination. She also claims that decorating windows and assessing other people's windows is essentially a woman's affair.
