Vytautas Michelkevičius is a curator, researcher, educator, editor and author, who holds PhD in humanities. His wide range of interests developed from photography, media art and media theory, to unstable and social forms of art, mapping, artistic research, and the relation between research and fiction. In 2018 he published a book Mapping Artistic Research. Towards Diagramatic Knowing. He curated Lithuanian Pavilion in the 56th Venice Biennale (Dainius Liškevičius, Museum, 2015), the doctoral researchers show Worktop/Showtop/Desktop (2017), events in the project spaces “Malonioji 6” and “Sodų 4” and nine editions of Inter-format symposia. Michelkevičius was Artistic Director of Nida Art Colony at Vilnius Academy of Arts (VAA) in 2010–2019. In 2019 he became the Head of the Photography and Media Art Department at VAA, and the Head of the Doctoral Programme in Fine Art at VAA.
