Body posture is one of the most important topics in flute playing, it has been important for a long time. How should we actually stand and what is exactly right and wrong? Over the years, much has changed in music, which greatly impacts how we as musicians move and stand. Is what your teacher told you, really the best for you?

For my collection, the starting point was the typical garments that characterize the bourgeois wardrobe of a classic bank employee. Double-breasted jackets, shirts, pleated trousers and trench coats are broken down into their component simple elements and then reassembled through a different scheme that introduces an unpredictable conflictual element. Garments that try to reconstruct their integrity will fail. So I attempt to annoy composure and morality through the same means they adopt, the scheme.” Elisa Nicoloso In the same way the box in which this display project is contained has been sectioned to his structural elements, attached to the same white cotton fabric the designer used for the collection and reassembled. The integrity however has been lost as the box collapses and dismounts as it gets opened. Not even when it’s closed it restores its initial integrity. The box alters his shape at every use as the overflowing fabric can’t be contained. It’s up to the user to decide whether to try to contrast this incomposture or accept it in the performative act of closing the box. Gloria Furlan

Nine research groups from HKU, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Fontys, and Utrecht University of Applied Sciences are joining forces with UvH and UMCU to bring a new perspective on healthcare through the arts, supported by the SIA-SPRONG grant. Using a transdisciplinary approach, this research group and its partners are developing new methods, practices, and scenarios within healthcare and well-being contexts—not for, but with each other.

Autistic people have six senses: taste, smell, touch, hearing, sight, and then words. Words are a sense that cannot be compared to other senses but allows them to leak in. Words have taste and smell, they are tactile, scratch the skin, bulge in the kidneys, they look: the shape of the letters in different writing styles, they have sounds, sounds when they sound inside the brain and when they say themselves, they are a movement a dance. But all these qualities still cannot define the words. For the words are their own. Their own mind.

Taking back the museum -hankkeen tutkijoina tunnustelemme tässä vuorokeskustelukirjoituksessa, mitä olemme tulleet työpajojen aikana luoneeksi ja tutkineeksi yhdessä sekä mitä on kehkeytynyt tai kehkeytymässä. Kirjoitus lähtee epäilevistä ja itsekriittisistä kysymyksistä siitä, oliko yhteistyömme relevanttia/kyllin-hyvää/hedelmällistä/oikeutettua vai oliko kyse vain projektitapaistuneesta valtameriä ylittävästä matkustelusta. Tässä artikkelissa keskustellaan ja kosketellaan tai sivutaan erityisesti seuraavia teemoja: taiteellinen tutkimus, taiteen etiikka, yhteisötaide, alkuperäiskansojen taide, alkuperäiskansatutkimus, alkuperäiskansojen pedagogia, alkuperäiskansan itsemääräämisoikeus, tiedon omistajuus, yhteiskirjoittaminen ja silleen jättäminen.

Meksikossa asuvat wirrarikat kehittivät 1950-luvulla perinteisten uhriesineiden pohjalta lankamaalauksen, nierikan, tekniikan: villalangasta muotoiltiin kuvioita mehiläisvahalla käsitellyille puulevyille. Nierika esittää usein uhraamisen tilannetta ikään kuin ajassa pysäytettynä ja näyttää tilanteen vapaaehtoisen uhrin näkökulmasta. Antropologit, taiteilijat, keräilijät ja valtiolliset turismin kehittäjät edistivät nierika-genreä innokkaasti, ja se tuotteistettiin yksilölähtöiseksi taidemuodoksi, jota alettiin luoda ja esittää useammin kaupunkikeskuksissa kuin wirrarikojen yhteisöissä. Tämän eksposition kirjoittajat ovat yhdessä toisten tutkijoiden ja wirrarikataiteilijoiden kanssa järjestäneet yhteisöllisiä nierika-maalauksen työpajoja, joissa wirrarikataiteilijat ohjaavat osallistujia tarkastelemaan ja ymmärtämään maailmaa wirrarikojen tavoin vastavuoroisuuden ja uhrin näkökulmasta. Nierika-maalaus otetaan näin takaisin yhteisöjen haltuun.
