Valtiattareni, kaiken elämän luoja, Pyhä Imettäjä!
Suurella rakkaudella sinä ravitset meitä,
ja täytät meidät elämällä.
Olet kotiäiti,
jonka työ jää usein vaille arvostusta,
kuin lehmä,
jonka maito otetaan itsestäänselvyytenä,
kuin Äiti Maa,
jonka lapsi voi olla lähellä tuhoa.
Valtiattareni, kaiken elämän luoja, Pyhä Imettäjä!
Armahda meidät, vaikka imemme sinut kuiviin.

With great love you nourish us,
and fill us with life.
You are the homemaker,
whose work often goes unrecognized,
like the cow,
whose milk is taken for granted,
like Mother Earth,
whose child may be close to destruction.

Have mercy on us, even as we drain you dry.
But who asks that you give everything?
Who expects you to empty yourself completely?
Have mercy on us, even when your breasts are sore and empty,
and help us to hear your boundaries.
Holy Nursing One, the first to feed,
have mercy on us, even when we betray you,
and give us courage when you say no.
Have mercy on us, and continue to nurse us,
that perhaps at last we may grow wise from your milk.
