Pyhä Viherpeukalo,
joka saat kasvamaan odottamattoman,
kastele meidät, sinun taimiesi joukko,
ja anna meidän kasvaa kohti valoa.
Pidä meistä huolta,
sillä vartemme ovat vielä hentoja
ja lehtemme arkoja tuulelle.
Käännä meidät aurinkoon,
kun omat juuremme eivät vielä kanna.
Sinun peukalosi vihreys
on merkki kärsivällisyydestä,
huolenpidosta ja toistuvasta alusta.
Siunaa meitä, jotka hapuilemme kohti elämää,
ja niitäkin, jotka vielä itävät pimeässä.
Armahda meitä,
jotka unohdamme hoitaa itseämme,
ja niitä, jotka vaativat itseltään liikaa.
Opeta meille,
että kasvu on hidasta
ja lepokin osa taimien tietä.
Pyhä Viherpeukalo,
auta meitä juurtumaan sinne,
missä meidät on istutettu,
ja jos maa ei meitä kanna,

Prayer to the Holy Green Thumb
Holy Green Thumb,
you who make the unexpected grow,
water us, your tender seedlings,
and help us reach toward the light.
Care for us,
for our stems are still fragile
and our leaves shy to the wind.
Turn us toward the sun
when our own roots cannot yet hold us.
The green upon your thumb
is the color of patience,
of devotion,
of beginnings that dare to return.
Bless us who reach uncertainly for life,
and those who still germinate in the dark.
Have mercy on us
when we forget to tend ourselves,
and on those who demand too much
from their own small shoots.
Teach us
that growth is slow,
and that rest is part
of every seedling’s path.
Holy Green Thumb,
help us root where we have been planted,
and if the soil cannot bear us,
carry us gently
to a place
where we may finally bloom.
